The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were celebrating today after the birth of a baby boy, their third child.
A brother for Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the baby arrived at 11am and weighed a healthy 8 lbs 7 oz.
Kate went into labour early this morning and was taken to the private St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, accompanied by Prince William.
After the safe birth, both mother and baby are said to be doing well.
“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news,” Kensington Palace said in a statement.
The Palace added: “Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”
There were large crowds outside the hospital, all hoping to catch a glimpse of William, or perhaps a visit from Prince Harry and Megan Markle.
A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman refused to comment on whether the Queen would visit Kate and her newborn son in the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s.
But it appears unlikely because Her Majesty only visited Kate and William’s other children after the proud parents had returned home to Kensington Palace.
